Andrea Ervin

My goal as a teacher is to create a classroom environment that presents students with challenging materials, high expectations and the guidance and patience to achieve them. I want to build a positive community within my classroom that embraces values and encourages students to grow, and to value my students and show them respect as well as help to build their self-esteem throughout the school year.

This is my fourth year teaching, second year at Capitol West Adacdmy.  I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and have taught in Nevada and North Carolina, both in middle school math. I have an elementary education major with an emphasis in mathematics. I love teaching and am very passionate about what I am teaching. I use many “hands-on” teaching strategies and techniques to make sure that every student is successful.

Our first unit went well and we are now learning about geometry. All grades will be embracing the geometry world and learning formulas to find area, volume, and surface area. They will be working on a project while learning the different benchmarks.
