I am the language arts teacher for the middle school classes at CWA (sixth to eighth grades). I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in broadfield social studies and have a charter school teacher license. This is my fifth year as a full-time classroom teacher. I have previously worked with students at Atlas Preparatory Academy in Milwaukee and Watertown High School.
I really enjoy working with the middle school students at CWA. I’ve found that they have very unique personalities and talents. Each student has much potential for future success, and seeing this is very motivating to me. I feel extremely fortunate to play a role in their individual development as they work toward high school and beyond.
Classroom news
Students start the year by defining their lives as readers, setting reading goals and understanding how to work properly in class. Our classroom follows the writing and reading workshop format inspired by the Teachers College at Columbia University in New York. At the end of September and the start of October, students will begin work on integrated projects for social studies and language arts classes, as well as completing a unit on inferential reading and character development.
