Family Page

Families are a critical component of every school community. Capitol West Academy is dedicated to involving families. We have developed a three-tiered approach to facilitate family involvement.

Level One: Communication

  • Ensure regular attendance and participation in the education experience of the child
  • Communicate daily through report system (passport system)
  • Participate in fund-raising activities
  • Attend mandatory school functions

Level Two: Partnership

  • Help child at home with school work and other assignments
  • Keep close contact with teachers on child's progress
  • Communicate daily through report system
  • Help at school and attends school functions
  • Participate in fund-raising activities

Level Three: Life-Long Commitment to Learning

  • Prepare their children for success in high school and beyond.
  • Support child's academic, social and emotional development through interaction and regular “study” support at school and home and in the community
  • Work as a team with teachers and other support personnel to create a positive learning environment
  • Communicate daily through daily report system
  • Demonstrate dedication and importance of their child's education success through school involvement (PAC, school outings, Boards, committee's etc.)
  • Demonstrate their commitment to education by seeking education opportunities for themselves through mentoring, workshops, etc.
  • Participate in fund-raising activities

Other opportunities for family involvement:

  • Attend family events throughout the year
  • Schedule regular family-teacher conferences
  • Encourage families to be help in the classroom, lunchroom, playground
  • All staff are accessible to families whenever they have a concern or question
  • Membership on Family Advisory Council
  • Provide suggestions for service improvement
  • Work with other families to increase participation in our program.
  • Representation on the Continuous Quality Improvement committee
  • Serve in advisory capacity to Principal
