For Parents

Family participation is crucial

Families are a critical component of every school. Capitol West Academy is dedicated to involving families by asking them to:

  • Ensure regular attendance and participation in the educational experience of the child
  • Ensure daily completion of school work
  • Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development through interaction and regular study support at school, home and in the community
  • Communicate daily through what is called the passport system. Click here to learn more about it.
  • Work as a team with teachers and other support personnel to create a positive learning environment
  • Demonstrate dedication and importance of the child’s education success through school involvement and attending mandatory school functions

Building character excellence

Teachers, students and parents are required to sign a pledge to build character excellence, which contains guidelines for behavior of all three groups. Click here to access a PDF of this pledge.
