Run/Walk to Benefit Wounded Warrior Project

Milwaukee, Wis. (5/2/13) — CWA will hold a two-mile run/walk beginning at 10 a.m. on June 11. This year, the run has been opened up to members of the Milwaukee Police Department’s District 7 and firefighters from the station on 88th Street in addition to all employees from across our agencies. The event, Stride for Soldiers, will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of Daniel Dresen, the brother-in-law of CWA teacher Lisa Dresen. Lisa’s husband, Matt, Daniel’s brother, is a police officer in District 7.

Daniel served in a field artillery regiment in Iraq and returned in October 2012 suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. He and his loved ones were coping with his condition when he was killed in a car accident just three months after coming home. He was 25. Participating in the run/ walk will help others of the 300,000 service members who suffer from this disorder receive assistance through the Wounded Warrior Project.

Also, as a special feature this year, the event will include the Bucks mascot, Bango; two Brewers racing sausages, and former Brewer outfielder Larry Heisle.

Registration is $4 for children, $7 for adults and includes a T-shirt. Forms will be sent home with CWA students and can be downloaded via the link above.
