Volunteers

Volunteers as a reading tutor through the Elmbrook Rotary

I’m one of about 20 volunteers from the Rotary who go in every week and work with the children. We’ve been doing this about three years, and we really connect with the kids. Our goal is to improve reading proficiency, and we work hard to try to reach that goal – and to make children love to read. If I can help a child find success in life, I think that’s what it’s all about.

Volunteers in elementary class taught by her daughter

I help out with reading and spelling and whatever else is directed by my daughter! I credit my daughter’s success in school to good teachers and volunteer helpers. Teachers really need the help, and working with children is a breath of fresh air. And the children need to know people care about them and want them to do well.
