Mother/Son Dance – 5/19/17
Our Parental Advisory Committee hosted the annual CWA Mother/Son Dance on Friday, May 19!
Father/Daughter Dance – 5/5/17
Our Parental Advisory Committee hosted the first annual CWA Father/Daughter Dance on Friday, May 5!
Donuts with Dad – 4/13/17
Our Parental Advisory Committee hosted the annual Donuts with Dad event, giving students a chance to bond with dad and/or grandpa over donuts at school!
3rd Quarter Assembly – 4/7/17
Our 3rd Quarter Assembly started with our Basketball team showcasing their skills to welcome fellow students to the event. The assembly also featured our Rewards program to issue certificates for Perfect Attendance, High Honor Roll, and Character Excellence. In two rounds, teachers competed against students in Minute to Win It Challenges.
Hero Day – 3/16/17
All week at CWA it has been Heartfelt Heroes Week and on Thursday, March 16, students invited their personal heros to attend Hero Day. It was a celebration of those that have made a heroic impact on our students.
Read Across America – 3/2/17
We were excited to have many professionals from our local community come to read Dr. Seuss books to our students for Read Across America!
Black History Program – 2/28/17
During our Black History Program, students showcased their displays throughout the classrooms that represented many iconic black leaders. Students participated in drumming, dancing and poetry readings throughout the event.
All School Assembly & In-School Dance – 2/24/17
The All School Assembly featured our Rewards program to issue certificates for Perfect Attendance, High Honor Roll, and Character Excellence. The In-School Dance was for students who met their MAP Test Grade Level Benchmarks. Ms. Weber even was even featured dancing to the song, “Juju on That Beat” – the song selection was the student’s choice!
2017 Spelling Bee – 1/5/17
Students competed by class: K4/K5, 1st-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade and 5th-8th grade. The winner from each grade level advanced to the next group to determine one overall winner. 3rd grader, Cameron Barfield, was this year’s overall spelling bee champion! View all grade level contestants and winners.
2016 Holiday Program – 12/13/16
Students performed with their grade level; the grand finale including all students. This year’s Holiday Program was followed by a special visit from Santa!
Diane’s Dictionaries – 11/30/16
In an effort to promote kids’ interest in vocabulary and reading, Diane’s Dictionaries, a program of the Elmbrook Rotary Club, delivered dictionaries to students in both 1st and 4th grade at Capitol West Academy!
Muffins with Mom — 11/11/16
Our Parental Advisory Committee hosted the annual Muffins with Mom event, giving students a chance to bond with mom and/or grandma over muffins at school!
Boo Bash — 10/27/16
Students came after school in costume to trick-or-treat and participate in activities around character building.
Unity Day — 10/26/16
Students wore orange during Unity Day to show that they stand out against bullying.

To welcome the new school year, CWA hosted a back-to-school picnic for new and returning students and their families!
